| Astrid Karlsen Scott Renowned Author and President of Nordic Adventures Preserving Norwegian Traditions Astrid Karlsen Scott is a free-lance writer, author, published lecturer and an award winning producer/director. She has published and produced numerous books, videos and audio products about her native homeland, Norway. Her products are internationally acclaimed and her video productions have coveted Award of Excellence from the Film Advisory Board, Hollywood, CA. She has conducted professional tours throughout Scandinavia and is considered an expert on Norway's culture, traditions, folklore and culinary customs. Astrid has made numerous guest appearances on television and radio talk shows throughout the United States. She has written extensively for a variety of Nordic publications, and she has served as a regional correspondent for Western Viking in Seattle, Food Editor for the Sons of Norway International Viking Magazine for seven years and has been a frequent contributor to Norway Times (New York). As a speaker, lecturer, producer and storyteller who is in demand, she often returns to Norway to conduct research and develop new products dealing with her Norwegian Heritage. Astrid has given workshops and lectures for Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, Smithsonian Institute, Norwegian chambers of Commerce, Colleges & Universities, The National Society of the Son of the American Revolution, Fraternal organizations, Commercial Norsemen Federation, Book Clubs, Study Circles, Churches and more. In her free time she has been deeply involved promoting her heritage within the Sons of Norway (SofN) and Daughters of Norway (DofN). Serving as Social/Cultural Director of Eastern District lodges, SofN, and organized Boston SofN Lodge, served as president, cultural director and editor. She has served as president and Cultural Director of the Olympia, WA lodge of DofN, and president of the Scandinavian Cultural Council at Pacific Lutheran University Tacoma, WA where she established the Council's Endowment fund and served as it's first chair. Astrid emigrated from Oslo with her parents and siblings. She is married to Melvin Scott, Jr. and they enjoy three children and twelve grandchildren.
